Ivan Masár commented on DS-1579:
--------------------------------

I'm sorry but I didn't find an explanation for my first question about your
suggested meaning of the primary bitstream.

> The primary bitstream is meant to tell DSpace where to start shorting.

I think you tried to explain it here, but I don't understand. Can you give an
example of before and after and indicate which bitstream you marked as primary?

> That will allow all our staff to handle the bitstream sorting, rather than
> relying on a couple of people whole knows sql.

Apart from an Administrator, curation tasks can be also called by a Community
Administrator or Collection Administrator.

> sort all the bitstreams in an item in the ascending or descending order by
> the file name

> In 3.x, there is a function to move bitstreams up or down within an item.
> However, it is a manual process, one at a time. We are adding lots of
> newspaper issues to items, not in a particular order at a given time,
> whenever files are available from the scanning stations.
> It would be really helpful if we can select a primary bitstream in an item
> and then be able to sort all the bitstreams there in the ascending or
> descending order by the file name.
> Could that be an enhancement for the future release?
