Issue Type: Improvement Improvement
Affects Versions: 3.0, 1.8.0, 1.7.0, 4.0

Description: The free continuous integration testing service provided by travis-ci.org is very nice, and easy to set up. However, it requires a very small configuration file to be present in the code base, so their service can determine how to build the project. The required file (.travis.yml) is very small, and will stay hidden, it shouldn't pose anyone a problem if they choose not to use Travis-ci. But, the service is free for opensource projects. Note, this merely supplements any existing CI service you may be using (such as DuraSpace's Bamboo server). Just setting up your own CI server is an undertaking that many developers may not tackle on their own. And Travis has a nice integration with GitHub, where they will warn you if a particular pull request leads to build failures (which would be handy information to have *prior* to a merge). More info on Travis-ci can be found here: http://about.travis-ci.org/docs/user/getting-started/
