Looking more closely, the IdentifierService bean is also defined in both files, and in this case both are uncommented. One should go. This really looks like a copy/paste vs. cut/paste error.

There's one commented definition in config/spring/api/identifier-service.xml and another UNcommented one in classpath:spring/spring-dspace-core-services.xml. This led me a merry chase today, as I didn't initially see why there were *any* identifier providers registered.
Pondering spring-dspace-core-services.xml, I presume that the commented definition...
