We have the same problem after upgrading to DSpace 3.2 from 1.8.2 and selecting SOLR as DAO for browse indexes in DSpace 3.2.
How do we safely delete the old PostgreSQL browse indexes?
And perhaps add a note to the docs about this in the indexes/discovery/release sections.

When trying to delete an item, DSpace fails giving the following error:
org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: update or delete on table "item" violates foreign key constraint "bi_2_dmap_item_id_fkey" on table "bi_2_dmap"
Detail: Key (item_id)=(66721) is still referenced from table "bi_2_dmap".
