Head of Technology Support Services in the University Libraries (Ref.:

Applications are invited for appointment as Head of Technology Support
Services (at the rank of Associate Librarian) in the University Libraries,
from as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the
possibility of renewal.

Applicants should have a good university degree, and a recognised
professional qualification in librarianship (M. L. S. or equivalent), plus
at least 8 years' post-qualification experience in academic libraries. A
higher degree in a second subject relevant to the duties is preferred.
Applicants should have: (i) excellent interpersonal skills, communication
skills, crisis management and conflict resolution skills; (ii) oral and
written ability to present ideas unambiguously and convincingly; (iii)
ability to work independently and with initiative; (iv) demonstrated strong
leadership and ability to delegate effectively and discharge duties to staff
and set appropriate standards for the delivery of service/work; (v) proven
ability to plan and implement significant projects; and (vi) demonstrated
high level of professional competence.

Reporting to the Deputy Librarian, the appointee will lead and head the
Technology Support Services Division. He/She will manage the daily
operations of the Division including management of staff; implement and
oversee the operation of the full suite of the Libraries' information
systems including the library catalogues, electronic research databases,
staff and public computer platforms, and the website of the Libraries;
oversee the maintenance of all hardware, software, and peripheral
equipments; liaise with system vendors and manage all contract-related
matters; and liaise with both internal and external parties on library
information systems issues. He/She will also provide technology and systems
expertise to ensure the optimal utilization of existing digital

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and
University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15%
of basic salary, as well as leave, and medical benefits. Housing benefits
