DSpace uses the apache CSV having library which supports embedded line 
feeds. I recommend using your choice of spreadsheet and exporting as CSV.

We use line feeds to get stuff like: 
http://researcharchive.vuw.ac.nz/handle/10063/2845 If they're not 
displaying you may need to add a line to style.css:

.simple-item-view-description div {white-space: pre-wrap;}

Embedded HTML is a _really_ bad idea.
