Stuart, D-Space colleagues, I can see why embedded HTML is a poor idea (<iframe> anyone?). I'm having issues with embedded raw Unicode. Metadata with Unicode characters, like a macron on a vowel, for example, or a diaresis, sorts and searches differently to that vowel on its own. For example, Māori is searched for as a different word to Maori . Hüsker Dü is different from Husker Du.

DSpace uses the apache CSV having library which supports embedded line feeds. I recommend using your choice of spreadsheet and exporting as CSV.
