Hi Tim,
we did the same thing (don't copy the pdf of the old version to the new
version) as in our case a new version will probably always have a new
version of the attached files as well.
This is the Place we changed for that:
org.dspace.versioning.DefaultItemVersionProvider#updateItemState(Context
c, Item itemNew, Item previousItem)
Just remove the line createBundlesAndAddBitstreams(c, itemNew,
previousItem)

But it also seems to affect v1, as I can’t open the file from v1 anymore.
Any idea on what I might be doing wrong?
