Hi Pantelis, the registries are only used during fresh_install or if loaded explicetly via the registry loader. If you are using git to manage your customizations of the DSpace Source Code it is best to add a registry and then load it with the registry loader to your current instance. This is done with [dspace]/bin/dspace registry-loader -metadata [your-metadata-file.xml] Thus it is not only in your instance but available for e.g. new test installations. You may have other customizations (display, search, workflows, input-forms etc.) which rely on certain metadata fields.
