vote 1+ for first part of the proposal
vote 1- for second part.... Not very sure about harvesting or exposing versions and modules across system interface. Too many advantages for networks hooligans and hackers..

Emilio

one of two goals I had in mind when I proposed adding what is now the
"version" CLI command was to make it easier to describe your
environment when sending emails to dspace-tech, the other was exposing
that information publicly on a known HTTP endpoint so that
installations in the registry [1] can be harvested automatically and
their entries updated with informations about current version, modules
and environment. That second part is yet to be about "exposing" done, both on
the
DSpace side and the registry side :) Would you like to pitch in?
