Hi Tim, my original message said DSpace 6.3. We are using the original Mirage
XMLUI. The items were not mapped before. Our cataloguing team discovered we had
issues when they attempted to map the items. We haven’t customized or changed
any code for checkboxes. I did check the log files but nothing out of the
ordinary is showing. It just started out of the blue.

Hi Jake,

Unfortunately, there's not enough information here to give an exact answer.
But, I do know that the Item Mapper screens will only display the checkbox *if
the item is not already mapped* to a given Collection. So, if the Item is
listed, but has no checkbox, that implies it already is mapped to (or belongs
to) the Collection you are mapping into. This logic is in the code here:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-6_x/dspace-xmlui/src/main/java/org/dspace/app/xmlui/aspect/administrative/mapper/SearchItemForm.java#L136-L153

It sounds like that must not be the situation for you though. I also just tried
this on our demo site (running 6.3 with Mirage 2) and it looks to be working
fine there: http://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/

So, a few things you might want to try:

  * Check your logs to see if some sort of error is being thrown when these
items are displayed. Maybe something is erroring out that could provide a clue
  * Do you have a custom theme? If so, are you customizing the display of
checkboxes in any way? Maybe your theme is causing checkboxes (in general) to
not be displayed properly? If you have a custom theme you could try
(temporarily) reverting to a default theme to see if it works right. If it
does, look closely at anything in your theme related to <field type="checkbox">

That's all I can think of. If you figure out any more clues, feel free to let
us know (and remember, it can also be helpful to tell us what version of DSpace
you are running -- I've assumed 6.x above.)

Further to it happening to all new items, it’s only an issue in XMLUI’s Mirage
interface.

I’m able to use JSPUI’s item mapper with no problems. I’ve tried clearing the
cocoon cache and rebuild the discovery index but no checkbox is available when
I try to do it in XMLUI.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

No it’s happening to all new items being submitted.

Subject: [dspace-tech] Unable to Map Item

Hi Everyone,

DSpace 6.3.

For some reason, I have one item that cannot be mapped to another collection.
I can map other items to the collection, but I’m unable to map one specific
thesis to this collection. The Item Mapper doesn’t display a checkbox for the
one item we need to map.

Any thoughts?

Jake
