Hi,

If the problem is with authenticating to your Gmail server, then I believe 
you should be able to set up an App Password from your Gmail account for 
authentication:

It's unclear though if your only issue is with that Gmail server login 
though, as you didn't share the error you've received.  You need to look 
for the detailed error in the logs as described in our troubleshooting 
guide: 
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error#Troubleshootanerror-DSpace6.xorbelow

(I should also note that DSpace 6.x is end-of-life.  We do recommend 
upgrading to 7.x when you have a chance)
