Hi,

I'd like to understand how the entities metadata work throughout DSpace
(I'm testing DSpace 8) so that I can use selected schema the way I want.
Documentation
<https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC8x/Configurable+Entities#ConfigurableEntities-Configuringthemetadatafields>

reads:

*Configuring the metadata fields*
*Determining the metadata fields to use*

   - Dublin Core works for publications, but not for a Person,
   JournalVolume, …
   - There are many standards which can be easily configured: schema.org,
   eurocris, datacite, …
   - Pick a schema which suits your needs

What if I don't use dc.title as an entity field? Say I have a 'Person'
entity for which I want to use 'person.familyName' and 'person.givenName'
only.

   1. How does it affect the entity indexing, displaying, or searchability
   in DSpace?
   2. What adjustments, if any, would be needed in the back/frontend to use
only custom metadata scheme for an entity?

By looking on the submission-forms.xml I can see a mixture of metadata
schemas applied to an entity, but most entities have dc.title (exceptions
exist, e.g., "openaireOrganizationForm"), some have dc.description or
dc.identifier, although equivalents in those more specific schemas these
entities use might be found. Is it only for the convenience of
indexing/displaying/connecting these entities in DSpace?

I'm designing my own set of entities and would love to learn more about
this issue.

Thanks
Peter
