Angelo,

While I don't know of anyone working with BibTeX records, we definitely
may be interested in anything you come up with.

We've recently had a request from some of our early adopters (who use
BibTeX pretty heavily) to provide the capability to just upload a BibTeX
file on the Describe/metadata entry screens of the submission process.
The idea would be that *instead* of manually keying in all the metadata,
we could just attempt to map their BibTeX file (which already has this
metadata) to the appropriate DSpace DC fields.

Most likely, it would be a long while before we'd have time to implement
such a feature, but I can definitely see the potential there (for those
researchers who use BibTeX).

Those same researchers have also asked us for a way to "export" BibTeX
for a given document within DSpace, which could also be a nice feature.
So, in general, I can definitely see the potential of allowing upload or
export of BibTeX (and similar) formats.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. But, I'd definitely encourage you to
share whatever tools you find or build (since I imagine others would be
interested as well).

- Tim

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier.
Download IBM WebSphere Application Server v.1.0.1 based on Apache Geronimo
