Using `Bibutils' it is relatively simple to convert BibTeX to MODS. Source code is available so I use a modified version to account for various diacritics absent in the stock version. MODS records can then be mapped directly to DSpace Dublin Core and then bulk loaded -- hack config/crosswalks/mods-submission.xsl at your leisure. Depending on the state of the MODS material the converted data may need some minor adjustment by hand. > Most likely, it would be a long while before we'd have time to implement > such a feature, but I can definitely see the potential there (for those > researchers who use BibTeX). > > Those same researchers have also asked us for a way to "export" BibTeX > for a given document within DSpace, which could also be a nice feature. > So, in general, I can definitely see the potential of allowing upload or > export of BibTeX (and similar) formats. Now this is a desideratum, definitely. I am sure many users would like to see on-the-fly generation from a DSpace record to a BibTeX record, and for that matter to EndNote. As this functionality is not presently available, and as I'm not in a position to produce (or fund) it, I have merely bulk loaded DC and the associated RIS, BibTeX and EndNote data. There are only about 25,000 records presently loaded (about the same number are in prep.) but inode usage is already starting to become significant. On-the-fly export would certainly simplify matters. > Sorry I cannot be of more help. My attempts to make up for this current deficiency in DSpace (1.4) are a little crude, but still, you may be interested in looking at the result.
