I finally tracked down the cause of the error we were experiencing - it
turned out that some old v1.3.2 stuff was still lying around in some
(obscure?) Tomcat cache (I thought I had flushed it all away during the
upgrade, but obviously not!) - I got our campus UNIX sys admin to give
DSpace's Tomcat a "damn good thrashing", and everything is working fine
now.
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing :-)
