Hi Richard, Do you have URIEncoding set to UTF-8 in Tomcat? See:

As for ordering, these both appear to be browses, rather than searches. This is a problem with ordering unicode characters in Postgres. I've already offered a patch in regards to this issue for the sort_author column - see: <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1672065&group_id=19984&atid=319984> Note that this patch only deals with authors, and only to the extent that it replaces all diacritics with nearest ascii equivalents. I can add title and subject processing to this patch as well if you want, but not until a little later today.
