Yes and no. No, you can't just import a bitstream to an existing item... but yes, you can export the item, swap out the bitstream, and re-import it with the same handle. This blog post may help you do it: <http://cavlec.yarinareth.net/2008/01/08/batch-replacing-items-in-dspace/> CAVEAT: don't try this with nested HTML items; the export will fail. If that's what you need to do, let me know and I'll try to post instructions, because that gets really complicated.
