It's going to depend on which OS you're using, and (if Linux or BSD)
which distribution. I'm not a sysadmin and can only advise you or your
admin to check the documentation for the package management on the OS
you have. Somewhere in the documentation there should be information
on how to install the Sun JDK and set your system to use it as the
default.
