Dear Robin,

We are in the process of finishing an Item Type based submission add-on (now
for the 1.5.2 jsp version). See: http://193.190.8.15/jspui - login
[email protected] - password: oceandocs

We still have to work on some bugs and on the documentation. The code will
be available at code.google.com/p/oceandocs. In March we will have upgraded
it to DSpace 1.6.

Hello, All~

I know the DSpace Add-Ons page at
http://www.dspacedev2.org/add-ons-and-extensions/DSpace-Add-ons.html
indicates there is a "Commenting" add-on for versions 1.1.1 and 1.2.
Does anyone know of a similar tool for 1.5.1?

Thanks,
Caryn

Just highlighting something in case it is of interest to anyone. I've
created a Jira issue with an attached zip file that contains an add-on for
an Item Type based submission process
http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS-464. In essence its just a new screen
to allow the user to specify an item type with the subsequent metadata
screens being built accordingly. This is something we make use of here in
Edinburgh and obviously it is in our interest to push for it to be in future
Dspace releases. I would be grateful for any feedback either directly or via
the Jira issue.

Thanks, Robin.

Hi all,

In 1.5.2 it seems possible to restrict which items are provided via the rss
feeds. So, in dspace.cfg I've set

harvest.includerestricted.rss = false

Restricted items are not included in the RSS feed at the homepage, but when
I check the RSS feed from the community page or the collection that contains
restricted items, the items are still included in the RSS feed. This is for
items in a collection where no policy at all is available for Anonymous and
Read only for a restricted group.

When I disable RSS caching, the restricted items are also shown in the RSS
feed from the homepage.

Any idea what I'm missing?

Best wishes,
Francis Brouns

Hi dspace-tech folks:

I am looking for a way to let a particular group of users, let's call them
"community managers", manage user permissions for collections within their
community. Using standard DSpace authorizations we can give users the
ability to create collections within the community but not to grant
submission rights to other users for the communities they have created.

Is this possible under DSpace (version 1.5.1, xmlui)?
Or has anyone developed any mechanisms for accomplishing this outside of
the core DSpace code?

Thanks,
~Chris

Hi Jeff,
     I just got back to this and I still can't get it to work. Here's what
I'm trying to do:
1. If DSpace is displaying the short-listing for Collection 1, use
webui.itemdisplay.default to determine which fields will display and what
the field labels will be.
2. If DSpace is displaying the short-listing for Collection 2, use
webui.itemdisplay.collection2 parameters to determine which fields will
display and what the field labels will be.
Here are my parameters from dspace.cfg:
webui.itemdisplay.default = dc.title, dc.title.alternative,
dc.contributor.*, dc.contributor.corpAuthor
webui.itemdisplay.collection2 = dc.title, dc.title.alternative,
dc.contributor.*, dc.contributor.corpAuthor
# Specify which strategy use for select the style for an item
plugin.single.org.dspace.app.webui.util.StyleSelection = \
                       org.dspace.app.webui.util.CollectionStyleSelection
                       #org.dspace.app.webui.util.MetadataStyleSelection
webui.itemdisplay.collection1.collections = 2121/32806
metadata.dc.contributor.corpAuthor               = Corporate Author

Here's where I am confused. What is the syntax for specifying the label (in
Messages.properties) for dc.contributor.corpAuthor in collection1?  I've
tried all of the following and no luck:
    collection1.dc.contributor.corpAuthor                   =
Organization/Contract
   collection1.metadata.dc.contributor.corpAuthor   = Organization/Contract
   metadata.collection1.dc.contributor.corpAuthor   = Organization/Contract

Thanks,
Sue

Susan,

This isn't really documented very clearly or well. I had to pull an old
configuration file back from 1.3.2 days to look at this. Now, my assumption
is that it is still valid, but it will only affect the JSPUI interface.
Manakin controls the XMLUI interface and that is not done through the dspace
config. (And I'm not a big Manakin user....)

You look for webui.itemdisplay.default line.

Then you create a new one, say webui.itemdisplay.fancy= [all of the fields
you want]

Add webui.itemdisplay.fancy.collections = [handle of the collection].

As you see I have a key named "fancy" which I might throw in ALL the DC to
display. Then the next line

tells JSPUI what collections will have that display.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know whether it's possible in DSpace 1.5.1 to have different

label for contributor.author to be "Contributor".

Thanks in advance,
