Thanks for confirming that Richard. You understand me correctly. We place electronic theses and dissertations in our DSpace instance. We begin our submission process for ETDs with UMI/Proquest. I was planning on creating a program to batch process dissertations that UMI sends to us via FTP. I just wanted to make sure that we would be able to automate processing our embargoed dissertations as well.

Just make sure the item metadata for everything in the batch includes whatever field you configured for embargo.field.terms and has a valid value. It will be embargoed as it is installed into the repository, just like if it had been submitted via the web UI.
