Hi, Everyone:

Last Friday I wrote about a "bug" that I found in DSpace 1.7.1, and I haven't
heard back from anyone about this. So, I am thinking that what I wrote wasn't
clear enough, and, therefore, I am resubmitting my email with some additional
information.

I have some records that someone submitted with the batch loader in which the
date was improperly encoded (for instance "April, 1994" instead of "1994-04").
In DSpace 1.6.2, these records display properly except that the Date display is
something like "-1-Uns- -1". No problem, I can go in and fix them.

HOWEVER...

In Dspace 1.7.1 (using the JSPUI interface), these types of records do not
display at all.

- If I do an item display, I get a blank screen.

- If I do a Browse by Title, Author, Date or Subject, in the collection
that the items are in, I get a blank screen

- If I do a Browse all Titles or Author or Date or Subject, it works fine
until I get to the "damaged" items, then I get an abbreviated display that
contains some HTML displayed (such as <a
href="/browse?type=author&value=Bauder%2)

I can see where if someone uploaded a batch file with "badly formatted"
dc.date.issued, it would be difficult to figure out what records are bad since
they don't display and mess up the search and browse displays that they appear
in.

So, does anyone have any ideas what to do about this?
