Thanks for the info.
I am trying to test a quick change to allow a non-authorised user to
access the item export (http://localhost:8080/xmlui/admin/export?itemID=13) but
I cannot find where the authorisation check is done (I have set breakpoints on
all the relevant code in AuthorizeManager.java), can you help?

No, unfortunately not without modifying Java code. But if you want to modify
the aspect, it can be added locally as an overlay, thus minimizing potential
breakage during future upgrades.
