Yes, you can do that (while Tomcat is down). Of course, by doing that you will lose the statistics data since the upgrade. Alternatively, if you still have the old log files lying around, you can use stats-log-converter to extract the statistics rfom them and stats-log-importer to import them to Solr (see official documentation).
