Thanks Nikita & helix for bringing this up.

It is correct that the discovery auto complete feature has been
intentionally left out in the context of the DSpace 3.0 Discovery
contributions.

By accident this information did not end up in the documentation, which has
now been rectified:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC3x/Discovery#Discovery-DSpace3.0

After reviewing our auto-complete code, originally written for DSpace 1.7,
we felt the feature was not up to par for inclusion in 3.0, both on the
level of the actual functionality and performance.

We are still working on our own roadmap for upcoming DSpace contributions
and have not decided whether additional work on this will be included.

Given that the issue came up, it would be an excellent opportunity to get
feedback. If you have used Discovery auto complete in v1.7 or v1.8, were
you satisfied with the behaviour and results (largely depending on which
fields you chose to index & the quality of your metadata)?

All suggestions for improvement could benefit the community.

best regards,

Bram Luyten
