The first step is to find out where Solr actually runs. Run the
following command as root and sent the output:
netstat -tulpn | grep java
As I said the default port would be 8080 - does it appear in the list?
If so, what does wget give you? I forgot to include the quotes in my
last email, which is important because of the * which are interpreted
by the shell.
wget "http://localhost:8080/solr/statistics/select?q=*:*";

Yes, it is possible by simply reversing all the steps to enable Discovery.
