Hi Anthony,
I batch upload to Dspace regularly using the Simple Archive Format, and as far
as I am aware it does not have the facility to upload anything but a 'flat' set
of files.
There are times I have wanted to preserve a file hierarchy (a data set with
READMEs at the top, and various folders with relatively homogeneous data). In
that case I make a zip archive as a container and upload that, with a note in
the comments. A tarball or another container would work as well, but I
selected pkzip as a relatively well known (and hopefully sustainable) format.
Dspace-tech is probably the best list for this question.
Kind Regards,
Anton.

Subject: [Dspace-tech] Batch uploading in dSpace
Hi,
I am currently using dSpace (open source repository software) to upload and
store files.
When using the basic submission procedure, this only allows the upload of a
single file at any one time.
I have also used the Simple Archive Format Packager recommended by dSpace. This
has allowed me to batch upload files within a folder. However the structure of
that folder does not remain intact. Each file within that folder is uploaded as
an individual item.
Has anyone got any experience using dSpace and how I can batch upload files
into dSpace maintaining the folder structure/hierarchy?
Regards,
Anthony
