Thanks Troy, but I don't think this is a storage driver issue?
I already have it using mysql storage, and data does get stored properly
when I run dspam from the command line.
It's only when it runs from the mail filter, which is using a uid unknown to
the system, that this error occurs ("Unable to determine runtime user").
