Is there any special character (not alphanum) in the user part of the
address ?
I remember there has already been problems with some characters before.

No, unfortunately, just a simple standard email address. I have been
taking a look at the users email... and i think that the spam/ham is
very similar. (e.g. the user has "Tips of the Day" type emails, which
everyone else would not want.)

We got one email into the quarantine today, but it turned out to be a ham.
