I should have been more explicit.
The patch is for 3.8.0 dspamc the original dspamc.c was the same in
versions 3.6.8 and 3.8.0

Due to your email I had a more detailed look at the top of
dspamc.c and dspam.c and noticed some changes so I did a
crude hack and changed dspamc.c and now dspamc works!! In my
original email I suspected that dspamc.c had not been updated.
Using the configure option --disable-trusted-user-security
that you mentioned on the original 3.8.0 also gets dspamc to work.
I have attached my patch file.

I have upgraded DSPAM from 3.6.8 to 3.8.0 all seems OK but
there are
log entries of
"Unable to determine the runtime user"
every time training is run (using traindspam from
sendmail+dspam+cyrus).
These emails were processed by the 3.6.8 version could it
be related
to
the upgrade?
I am now watching for a new email (post upgrade) to be
classified as
spam but it may take time as DSPAM is so ><effective.

I have had the same problem , after compiling dspam with the option
--disable-trusted-user-security problem was solved ( seems to be a
problem with the chached user information in code ) I have allready
sent a mail to the dev-list but know response
