I hope you had the rcvr cable terminated as well.  Maybe to your antenna/system.

Coax not properly terminated can act as an antenna.  However, for your test I 
think you were looking at the tx cables.

Your transmitter is spec'd only 60 db spurious emmsission.  Yours might be 
-80db now, but with temp/humidity/etc change it might be at some other level 
that can cause a problem.  This is what most are talking about...the noise from 
the tx at the rx freq.

So one test cannot be used to judge all.  However, your test is a good one, but 
like so much in a repeater things change and problems develop and the use of 
poor cables is very often seen as a problem developer.  Works now, but not 
later.

What I am others are saying when building a repeater there are just some things 
one does to head off problems.  ICOMs use of single shielded cable is such a 
issue not done in repeaters.  Known for decades.  But of course good repeater 
manufactures don't use txs with only -60db supurious emmissions.
