Greg, I hope you had the rcvr cable terminated as well. Maybe to your antenna/system.
Coax not properly terminated can act as an antenna. However, for your test I think you were looking at the tx cables. Your transmitter is spec'd only 60 db spurious emmsission. Yours might be -80db now, but with temp/humidity/etc change it might be at some other level that can cause a problem. This is what most are talking about...the noise from the tx at the rx freq. So one test cannot be used to judge all. However, your test is a good one, but like so much in a repeater things change and problems develop and the use of poor cables is very often seen as a problem developer. Works now, but not later. What I am others are saying when building a repeater there are just some things one does to head off problems. ICOMs use of single shielded cable is such a issue not done in repeaters. Known for decades. But of course good repeater manufactures don't use txs with only -60db supurious emmissions. 73, ron, n9ee/r Ron Wright, N9EE 727-376-6575 MICRO COMPUTER CONCEPTS Owner 146.64 repeater Tampa Bay, FL No tone, all are welcome.
