Try to contact Eric VE3EI, he's involved in the Toronto system and is also an Icom rep, I believe. There is no APRS on D-STAR. There's DPRS, and if the local gateway has the add-on software loaded to act as a DPRS to APRS Gateway (to the Internet side of APRS, not on-air) then your position information in the 2820 will be relayed to places like aprs.fi, as one example. To do "traditional" APRS with the FM side of the rig, you would have to have a tracker or other device to generate the tones, and make up an analog audio interface to the radio, just like a regular FM rig. Are you trying to receive positions? Transmit positions? What are you trying to accomplish with "APRS"? > Does anyone have a secret site that explains what I can do with D-Star. You can do exactly what the manual says you can do: Talk in digital voice and simultaneously send low-speed data. (In the case of the IC-2820.)
