I suspect some people might disagree with that, although it's a bit of a gray area and I'd personally side with you on it. I'm told there are hams using 2.4GHz WiFi links with power amplifiers and encryption who ensure that the WEP or WPA security codes are publicly available *somewhere* -- such as on a public web site -- but they're not announcing them "in the clear" every, say, 10 minutes or so. This seems like a pretty reasonable approach as well, in that it keeps out the "casual snooper" while still making it completely viable to monitor the channel with a reasonable amount of equipment and legwork. ---Joel
