Bill, No -- it's utilizing the original Icom method of talking from one repeater to another, before "linking" even existed. See the D-STAR Calculator and read up on the Icom method, it actually works VERY well -- and can be used for US repeaters just as easily. It's similar to "callsign" routing to find a particular ham, but you're instead "routing" each transmission to a repeater callsign and port. Nate WY0X
