I believe that the IC-91 and the ID-1 are the only radios that allow for "remote control" The programming software for all of the other radios perform what is referred to as cloning, where a large chunk of data is sent to or received from the radio and after loading the radio, it has to be turned off and then back on.
I'm not sure why Icom feels that radio control isn't a feature. There's a number of situations, especially data, that can make significant use of radio control. But in short, unless you want the IC-91, I think that you won't be seeing any radio control. The most important consideration for me is availability of quality Radio Control software. I would love to find the Home Radio Deluxe equivalent that works with D-STAR equipment. I have searched the internet without much success; learning only that there is confusion regarding the differences between Memory Management Software, Cloning Software, and Radio Control Software. My interest is in Radio Control. If any of you have any of you have experience and recommendations for a particular Radio Control Software package used with D-STAR equipment, I would love to hear about it.
