You could argue that if you allowed every repeater to act differently, becuase the gateway is configured differently from one twn to the next it would fragement the userbase.
They already DO act differently, per the settings in the configur ation file for whether users can link/unlink. There has been no fragmentation of the userbase over it, only the admins. There is no standard for that feature, there need be no standard the other. It will make no difference to the end-users because no end-user doing a callsign route EXPECTS to be heard anywhere other than where they routed to.
