The Raytown Missouri Amateur Radio Club sponsors a "Technology Net' every
Friday night with a different technical subject each week. Guest speakers
are invited to present a particular subject of interest to the Amateur
community. The presentation is delivered over the clubs two meter repeater
(Kansas City area) and also available on Echolink. This week's subject
should be of particular interest to this group, so I've sent this
announcement to the D-Star Yahoo Group.

The subject for this week's Technology net is D-Star. The standard for
digital voice and data for Amateur radio. Developed by the Japanese Amateur
Radio League. The presentation will give a timeline of the development with
an explanation of Terminology and Technical Data. Also, information on the
local repeaters and simplex activity around the Kansas City area. A general
question and answer period will be held following the presentation.

Our speaker is a real expert of this subject, Tom Rhodelander, NM0N. Tom is
the System Admin for K0HAM and W0CW, D-Star systems in KC. In his
professional life, Tom is a Computer Systems Engineer and has a great deal
of interest in computer and network systems as well as radio, thus his
interest in D-STAR, and similar technology.

Please join us and add your comments about issues you may have or ask
questions to the group concerning D-Star as used in Ham Radio.

The Technology net is on the Raytown Amateur Radio Club repeater at 8 pm
Central time, Friday night 145.170(-) no PL tone.

You can connect directly to the repeater or on Echolink K0GQ-R node 403841.
We are expecting great interest in this subject.
The *MISSOURI* conference server node 452514 is also available giving great
Echolink connectivity for Hams all over the globe.

You can see an outline of the presentation on-line on our website:
