Actually, he does not.  Satoshi completely ignores such requests,
even though I have physical proof of owning several of his boards.

It now is, indeed, a moot point.

Our firmware runs on all the boards (Satoshi's, Mark's, mine, homebrew,
breadboarded, whatever..) as long as they stick with the same basic
design, of course.  Although the license to use it is included in our
kits, these licenses ARE for sale separately, for those who have their
own board done, have a board which they'd like to, uhm, legalize, or
even for the sheer thrill of owning Other Firmware(tm) :)
