A fellow D Star operator has asked me if some repeaters have changed their
Gateway systems in some way that precludes others from accessing these
repeaters. I could not give him an answer but from my own experience I am
finding that if I call into a European city repeater - for example Berlin,
Vienna - I seldom, if ever recently, receive any response. And that despite my
best attempts at speaking German!! It would seem from this that there is
increasing use of the Reflector system and/or that some repeaters have changed
their systems making them more local talk boxes.
Any comments from others experience?
If there is any "bar" on using the local repeaters I would express
disappointment as it is very good to pinpoint areas and enjoy QSO's with local
people in these areas.
