I'm not familiar with 'snmptranslate'. The name resolution with SNMP can
only work, when the application has loaded the MIB file. When the oracle
MIB file is not available at snmptranslates runtime, the name resolution
will not work.

Maybe Oracle's implementation is not intended to be a standalone system.
net-snmp comes with multiplexer support via various protocols. You might
have to configure net-snmp to relay parts of the SNMP tree to another
agent.

On thing I've recently noticed with a older net-snmp running on some
machine: snmpwalk at .iso.org.dod.internet does not bring me the
net-snmp internal enterprise MIB parts, but snmpwalk
.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.ucd-snmp does. That's not
exactly relevant to your problem, but you might fall into this whole
later on as well. ;)
