I am not sure you can have two default gateways. Or
can you ?
Perhaps one should be the gateway and the other a
static route.
Perhaps your friend can make start by doing a quick
NAT (using Iiptables) just to make sure connectivity
is okay before he tries to sort out the two default
gateways and Squid issues.
