I just gave a test-drive in outlook 2003(i know its kinda old software
in the yr 2006).
I really liked the way they clubed the calendar, address book & mail
client.
Is there any open-source or free alternative to that program????
The only close one i found was Mazilla Suite, but its seems to be out-
dated as i dont see any new release in that series. Instead its all
about thunderbird & firefox & sunbird. And Opera is no where close(IMO).

Count me in, too. Except that I won't be there. I'm desperately
trying to get to Dubai right now, but I'm presently stuck in USA.
If anyone can suggest a cheaper way to get to Dubai, email me!

Ugh. Outlook 2003 is bad in many ways that open source software does
good in. Outlook 2003 sucks! I have to use it at my job. The
interface is... not so good.

I use Evolution at home. It's pretty complete, and an excellent
Outlook-like program, though it lacks in the same way that Outlook
lacks.

Sunbird is lacking, too. It's still beta. I haven't used Thunderbird.

Emirates, flys to New York twice a day, price is cheap, the flight
back is 12 hours, with on demand video, good for your emails 6000 tier
miles & some change, and you can't reserve seats except at the gate.
Arrive at the gate 3 hours early and book an emergency exit seat,
drink copiuous quantites in JFK, hop on the flight, sleep for 6 hours,
and have an LOTR marathon for the next 6 hours.
As some one thats flys this route 4 or 5 times a year, this is the
best way to do this trip.
(sorry for the off topic response)

Evolution or the K-Suite (K-Mail, Kontact) are your two best open
source alternatives with similar functionality as lookout 200x.

As a happy evolution user for the last 3 years, I just migrated to Kontact for my
contacts/calendar.. (I'm still using Thunderbird for E-mail) and I'm _well_ impressed. I love it.
Now if only someone would get a usable linux based pim suite for my pda that would actually sync
with it I'd be in 7th heaven..
So close to moving back to a Palm.. (Despite my distaste for their hardware reliability I can soooo
hear a Palm Treo calling me)

Could take a while unless... you are staying in Innsmouth,
Massachusetts and are infact really Todd Walton Marsh, the long
longest grandson of Obed Marsh! In which case would you not not be
more happying swimming out to Y'ha-nthlei, the city under the Sea?
That is where the deep ones live and I am sure you would be more happy
with your own kind!
(If you have no Idea what I am talking about fellow LUGgers, then
please refer to your favourite copy oy HP Lovecraft's complete works
and look for the short story: The Shadow over Innsmouth, all will be

Seeing as certain members of the LUG are trying to go all Politcally
correct on us, and seeing as god's own Distro does call its self GNU /
Linux, please refrain from using the above phrase any more on a formal
mail list, perhaps maybe you should use a more PC statement like :
Happy user of God's own GNU Distribution since 1996.

Right... Would that be the Treo 700 running WINdoze ? I will second
brad's opinion on the thunderbird, a great mail application.

I'm still using my Palm Vx from 2000 very happily - you can even still
buy them on Amazon for about $40!
The lack of modern synch capabilities on Linux and/or Solaris is a pain
though.
I'm hoping Sun will either get us all Blackberries or free Palms and
update their synch software...

Dubai LUG is now added to the Fedora Project LUG listing, please let
us know if there are any errors.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/LinuxUserGroups
In any case, Fedora is a Linux distribution and SuSe is also a Linux
Distribution, and yours is a Linux User Group.
However SuSe is not a bad Linux Distribution we appreciate the efforts
and the competition, we hope you will have more Linux users in your
area over the years.
We will certainly be glad to delegate Fedora Ambassadors in your
region, if any of you seems to be interested please find more
information on http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors
Many Thanks,
Kevin Verma
