I agree with Brad, please resist all further temptations to use the
HTML beta composer. :)
As brad stated EMACS is like a swiss army knife and designed to do
many things, where as vi alot more simple, i.e. what you see is what
you get.
Emacs contains vi (viper mode)
Emacs does not require switching modes like vi does
Emacs has version control
Emacs has support for multiple languages
Emacs has special editing modes for programming languages : such as
C++, Pascal, Perl.
Emacs can do a post script output
Emacs has a much larger command set
Side Note: vi vi vi - The editor of the Beast
vi was originally written on the BSD platform and ported to Unix, so
is not part of the GPL, hence its usage is frowned upon by all
followers of RMS and the church of Emacs, and is often refered to as
the editor of the beast.
