It does show a migration path of course, you're right.
All this stuff gets mixed up in co-opetition anyway. One slide will
show how Company A supports Company X on its platform and what great
friends they are, the next about how much better Company A is than
Company X. IBM do a very smilar thing when they talk a lot about Linux,
but consistently sell AIX into the enterprise.
I suspect the Andreesson stuff is mainly of interest to Unix customers
whose apps scale well vertically who are looking to get the price
performance of the newer Opteron or Intel kit and are looking to migrate
from Unix to Linux.
