Dan,

NWLinkIPX - MS version of IPX/SPX is the protocol, here they stopped
TCP/IP sharing services, so in order to reach our domain server it has
to be via NWLink/NetBios combo, TCP/IP port 80 is the only port allowed
for Windows users, not to mention that Windows users are very restricted
in stuff they can do, they're not allowed to change their desktop
wallpaper, when asked why, the admin responded it's safer that way, and
I totally agree with since were having much less problems.

Yes I have (successfully) broken the policy of using TCP/IP but that's
on Linux, my Linux has been on for more than 2 years with minimal
shutdown, if you remember I used SuSE 9.1/9.2 before, then I switched
back to (my old favorite) Mandriva 2005LE, not only did I "break the
policy" but my Linux box is proudly connected directly to the web with a
public IP.

I didn't succeed in implementing IPX on Linux because I couldn't find a
solution to linking to a Windows domain server with NWLink, I guess if
it was Netware with IPX I wouldn't have had a problem.

ExecuTrain will always welcomes DubaiLUG meetings as long long I'm here!

8^)
