thanks for all the responces.

I would like to use heartbeat inbuilt in SUSE, but incase of failover, what
options do i have, do I need to write all the scripts or are they available
with SUSE.

I wish to use clustering services but that only available in OES version and
not in SLES 10, which i we have purchased.

I am confused as to which way would be the best suited plan for my existing
software/hardware, without having to invest more in veritas like commercial
clustering s/w.

  advice much appriciated.

  Riyaz.

HI Riyaz,

What kind of file system are you using ? Is clustered ? if not you
need to use one, as you are running SuSE I recommend Reiser FS. You
also need to remove the auto mount command in the etc/fstab. How are
the primary and backup servers talking ? and using failover ? Are you
using something like heartbeat ? or hardware . software like
lifekeeper ? If you are going the software route I recommend
implementing STONITH. (shoot the other node in the head) :)
