As you want to use your servers in a primary / backup controller configuration you do not need to cluster them per say. You want them in a high availability (HA) mode. So when server 1 goes down, server 2 picks up the slack. This can be configured using heartbeat and if you have never configured it before then do not worry it is pretty easy.
