True true, but the point he makes is that coding something that adds
additional (and I agree, very useful and needed) stuff into Ubuntu
should be done following the rules. I mean, that code looks pretty
'iffy' to say the least.

I mean, needed or not, if they want to add stuff to Ubuntu, they
should go through the right channels. Ubuntu has every right to warn
users about something that can potentially break an Ubuntu user's
system in such a way that the user may blame Ubuntu for being unstable.
On the other hand I also think that any OS should be able to support
commonly used formats. Though I know that this is often an issue of
patents rather than actual coding.
