I am have been torturing a Compaq NX6310 since mid 2006. I just had to replace the hd recently,other than that the only issue is that there 1 vertical light green line on the screen which doesn't even bother me. Its a neat system, I just open it every 6 months & clean the dust around the fan. Nice to know that there are many compaq users around. I though I was alone. I have installed lots of Linux flavours, never had any driver issues.
Recently I started extensively using virtualbox, its a great application. My primary choice is compaq. But just looking for the something a bit better. My main issue is that I cannot use a crystal brite screen & I prefer a only english keyboard. Dell E6400 seems interesting and I really like the next business day support that dell offers for 3 yrs. I have worked on Dell D620 & 630, neat systems. Any idea whats an ideal price as I will be buying for personal use & any suggested stores for a Dell E6400 with ideally P8700 or similar, without OS, shared graphics, 2gb ram, 7200rpm hd. I checked in carrefour, Sharaf DG & plugins, they didn't have it. Will check with Jumbo today.
