This probably isn't helpful, but I have one SB Receiver where the ethernet port died and now it's only usable on wifi. This was a pre-production hardware beta version and when I reported the issue the Logitech guys immediately said that they'd had several such reports.
Presumably they solved that issue before going into production (otherwise there would be lots of posts about it over the past ~15 years), but it is a part of the hardware that can fail.
